Porcelain crowns and fillings are the most biocompatible restorations we can use in dentistry. At Gold Coast Holistic Dental Care, we offer same-day porcelain crowns and porcelain fillings by using our CEREC Omnicam machine.
Usually, a porcelain crown treatment requires two dental visits. During the first visit, the dentist prepares your tooth, takes an impression of it and then places a temporary restoration. The crown will then be designed and fabricated in a dental laboratory within the next 14 days.
Once that process is completed, the patient returns to the practice for the final crown insertion. This process is timely and can be quite expensive due to laboratory fees for the crown fabrication.
At Gold Coast Holistic Dental Care, we are equipped with the technology to provide porcelain fillings and crowns in one visit using our CEREC Omnicam machine.
This means we can provide the most biocompatible material in one visit with no temporaries or second visits. Instead of taking traditional impressions, the dentist will use a 3D scanner to scan your teeth. This is regarded as more comfortable by many patients. Most importantly, it reduces the time and the price for the treatment as laboratory fees won’t be incurred.
At Gold Coast Holistic Dental Care, having a porcelain restoration is like a mini spa treatment. We prepare and scan your tooth for the restoration, and while the restoration is being milled you are welcome to a complimentary massage or infrared sauna treatment. Afterwards your new porcelain restoration is bonded onto your tooth.
Patients with a heavily-worn, damaged, chipped or heavily decayed tooth may require a porcelain crown. A crown covers the damaged tooth like a cap and strengthens it. Your dentist can match the shape and colour of your other teeth with your new porcelain crown.
He will also have to reduce the size of your old tooth. This ensures that the crown fits properly over the top of the tooth.
A porcelain filling may be required by a patient with light or moderate tooth decay. The dentist will drill the decayed portion of the tooth away and replace it with a strong porcelain filling. This will stop the cavity from growing any further.
